Militants want to spoil communal harmony: Minister


Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Saturday said militants are killing people to spoil the country’s long communal harmony.“Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony. All the people of Bangladesh have been maintaining a fraternal relation for centuries. Militants are killing people to spoil this communal harmony,” he said.The minister was addressing an anti-militant rally at Rangpur Police Lines School and College ground.

Reaffirming that there is no existence of IS (Islamic State) in the country, the Home Minister said the militants, who have been involved in militant activity, are the members of JMB, HuJI, Ansarullah Bangla Team, and Hamza Brigade.“People will resist the militants joining hands with the law enforcers,“ he hoped.Chaired by DIG of Rangpur Range Khandker Gulam Faruque, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Chairman of Standing Committee on Home Ministry Tipu Monshi, State Minister for LGED & Cooperatives Md Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, local MPs, Imam of SholaKia Maidan Maulana Farid Uddin Ahmed, principal of Ramkrishna Mission Swami Dhrubeshananda Moharaj and representatives of other religions.
