Minor girl abducted from N’ganj rescued in Chandpur


An eight-month old girl, who was abducted from Araihajar upazila of Narayanganj on Friday, was rescued from a village of Kochua upazila of
Chandpur on Saturday.Police also arrested one person in connection with the abduction. The rescued girl was identified as Meem, daughter of Mohammad Yeasin Miah of Bokadikanda area in Araihajar upazila. Meem’s mother Shahnaj Begum said that their neighbour Nazmul Hassan,19, had taken Meem to a shop to buy her biscuits but since then they did not return. Despite frantic searches in all possible places, neither Nazmul nor the child could be found. Later, Meem’s father got information that Nazmul had taken his daughter away to Sengua village in Kochua upazila of Chandpur and
offered to sell her to one Jakir Hossain of the village. Informed by Yeasin, Sub-inspector Nazmul Huque Kamal of Kochua Police Station raided the house of Jakir, rescued the girl and arrested the alleged abductor Nazmul on Saturday. Police later handed over the girl to her parents. Meanwhile, Nazmul was sent to jail after he was produced before a court. A case was filed in this connection. – UNB, Chandpur
