Minor girl found dead in water reserve tank in capital


A minor girl was found dead inside a reserve water tank at Satmasjit Housing near Mohammadpur embankment in the city on Thursday.
The minor baby was identified as Mukta Akhtar, 6, daughter of Mostafizur Rahman of Lalmohon in Bhula district. She was residing with her parents at a rented house inside Satmasjit Housing.
Mukta had been missing since 1:00 pm on Thursday. Later her body was found floating inside the reserve tank of the house at about 4:00 pm, said Mostafiz.Being informed, a team of Mohammadpur police station recovered the body at about 4:45 pm and sent it to DhakaMedical College Hospital for postmortem.
Talking to reporters at DMCH morgue, Mukta’s father alleged that he had a dispute with one of his neighbor “ Faruque’s mother’ for last several days. His daughter might have been killed following dispute, Mostafiz suspected.
When his attention was drawn about Mostafiz’s allegation, Officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur police station Azizul Haque said he was yet to get formal complain in this regard. We are investigating into the matter, the OC said.
Sources at the DMCH said cut mark was found on the neck of Mukta. – News Desk
