A student of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) was stabbed by several unknown miscreants in the campus of Mymensingh on Friday evening.The victim was identified Rezwan Rashik, a 3rd year student of food engineering and Rural Industries department and also the residential student of Fazlul Haque Hall.
Sources said, miscreants attacked Rashik with sharp weapons at ‘Fish Museum’ in the campus around 06:45 pm while he was with his friend returning to hall.
Miscreants also snatched 3 mobile phones and money bags from them.
A case was filed in Mymensing Kotwali thana on this incident.
Later, security guards rescued him and took him to the health care centre of university and then doctors in charge referred him to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.
Protesting the incident, students of the university made a human chain demanding punishment of the miscreants and measuring adequate security on the campus.
Later, they also brought out a silent procession on the campus that marched all important streets on the campus.
Five suspects were detained for interrogation, said Kamrul Islam, Officer in Charge (OC) of Kotwali Thana.
BAU chief security officer Md Mohiuddin Hawlader said due to inadequate security personnel, they were failing to provide proper security on the campus.
BAU proctor AKM Zakir Hossain said, “The incident has been occurred despite alert position of the security guards. Administration will take necessary steps in this connection.”
