Shrugging off the opposition’s movement for a non-partisan election-time administration, Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir on Sunday said they will resist with an iron hand those who will try to create anarchy and resist the next general election.
“If anyone tries to create anarchy for foiling the (next parliamentary) election, they’ll be resisted with an iron hand,” he said while addressing a function marking the inauguration of Rab-6 headquarters in Labanchora area of Khulna city.
Sought comments on law and order situation across the country, the minister claimed that the law and order situation is far better now than in the past. Likening the current regime to Shaista Khan’s, MK Alamgir said a labourer now can earn Tk 400 and return home with 15 kg rice by working all day long. “This is better than Shaista Khan’s regime.” State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Munnujan Sufian, among other, addressed the function. – UNB
