Mobile court fines eight gamblers in Pirganj


A mobile court fined eight gamblers with Taka 600 each in Pirganj upazila town in the district this afternoon, police sources said.Earlier, Pirganj Thana police arrested them from a house in village Chotrahat area under Chhatra union of Pirganj upazila while they were gambling there in the small hours of today.Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Pirganj Thana Moksed Ali said the arrested persons were produced before a mobile court led by Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate ATM Ziaul Islam this afternoon.After hearing of the case, the mobile court fined the gamblers with Taka 600 each or to suffer seven day term of imprisonment in jail without labour.Later, the gamblers were released after they paid the fined amount as per law, the sources said.The convicted persons are: Suruz Mian, Biplob, Mahabur Rahman, Mahbub and Shahin of village Padmahar, Moksed Ali, Abdus Samad of village Rangamati and Sohel Mian of Chhotokua under Pirganj upazila. -BSS, Rangpur
