Modern tech turns agricultural livelihoods in BD commercial

Dhaka, Sept 27 – Livelihood of people based on agricultural productions has turned commercial due to the introduction of modernized technology from traditional production system in the country, Matia Chowdhury has said.“Our main target is to develop sustainable food production management to ensure the nutritious security of the people. So, the persons involved in agricultural sector have to dedicated their intellectuals and labour for the development of this sector,” the agricultural minister said while addressing on the occasion of completion of 25th years of Bangladesh Academy of Agriculture held at the city’s Krishibid Institute Auditorium yesterday.
Among others, national emeritus scientist Dr Kazi M Badroddouza and Bangladesh Agricultural University vice-chancellor Dr Md Ali Akbar also spoke on the occasion.
Bangladesh has earned the honour as an export-oriented country from an import-dependent country on food in abroad, Matia Chowdhury said, adding that the nation will be commissioned as a developed nation before 2041 if the present development trend is continued.
“Employment generations have increased for the workers due to the implementation of various development projects under the present government. Besides, social reputation and transparency of people have also increased in the country,” she observed.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has brought the agricultural sector to a unique high following the path of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the agricultural minister said.
Bangladesh has achieved as food sufficient country due to various steps taken and their implementation by the government, she added.
“The government has taken up various strong steps giving the priority of research sector to modernize food production through innovating high-quality sustainable technology and their uses in the agricultural sector,” Matia Chowdhury said.
Seven farmers have received ‘crest of merit-2018’ for their key role in the agriculture sector. – Staff Reporter
