More Russian scholarships for higher study in Nuke Energy

Twenty more Bangladeshi students will be awarded scholarships this year to study nuclear energy at under graduate and post-graduate levels in different academic facilities in Russia, which are members of Rosatom’s consortium of core higher educational institutions. Scholarship will be awarded under the quota of Russian Ministry for Education and Science for Bangladeshis.
Human Resources Department of Russia’s state nuclear corporation- Rosatom, Corporate Academy of Rosatom and Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) organised a competitive test for the candidates at BAEC premises in Dhaka recently. 137 students sat for the examination in Physics and Mathematics for pre-graduate scholarship, while 26 graduates had gone through tests in their professional subjects and Mathematics.
Experts from National Research Nuclear University (MEPhI) in Moscow, university partner of Rosatom will evaluate the answer scripts and select candidates for scholarship.
Under the joint nuclear infrastructure development programme adopted recently in Dhaka, Russia has undertaken the responsibility to develop Bangladeshi nuclear specialists for the future Rooppur nuclear power plant. It may be mentioned here that last year 10 Bangladeshi students under another scholarship programme were enrolled in Russian Universities for higher education in nuclear energy.
Under an inter-governmental agreement signed on November 2, 2011 Russia is constructing Bangladesh’s first ever nuclear power plant at Rooppur in Pabna.
Rosatom’s consortium of core higher educational institutions consists of 14 renowned academic and research facilities in Russia. Under a programme the consortium is engaged in developing nuclear specialists for various countries including Bangladesh. As per 2014 statistics, 705 students from 17 countries were enrolled in different institutions of the consortium and the number of students is expected to reach 1,200 in 2016. – Triune Group press release
