Most of 22 deals signed favour India – Prof Emajudin


Former Dhaka University vice chancellor Prof Dr Emajudidn Ahmed yesterday said most of 22 deals signed during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Dhaka were in favour of interests of India.
“The government has turned into proverbial “Hatem Tai” and is giving all that it has. A total of 22 deals were signed with India during Modi’s visit but most of them were in favour of India. There is no interest in it for us,” he said while addressing a roundtable meeting at Jatiya Press Club.
Desh Bachao, Manush Bachao Andolon organised the meeting on “Visit of Indian Prime Minister: Our expectation and achievement.”
The pro-BNP intellectual alleged that Bangladesh has been opened for India by signing the agreements.
“The government should realise that after opening our door to satisfy someone whether we will have the authority to keep our legs here,” he added.Emajuddin, convenor of Adrasha Dhaka Andolon, a pro-BNP think-tank, said people expected that all outstanding issues including border agreement would be discussed but no such discussion was taken place.
The Teesta water sharing and border agreement issues would depend on the efficiency of those would deal with the matter, he added.
Rafiqul Islam Ripon, president of the organisaiton, Shajahan Miah Samrat and president of Swadhinata Forum Abu Naser Rahmatullah, also addressed the meeting. – Staff Reporter
