Renewing his party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s threat, BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Monday said the government’s any move to hold a stage-managed polls will be resisted by forming ‘All-party Sangram Committees’.   “All-party Sangram Committee will create a strong resistance at every polling station if the government tries to hold a stage-managed election ignoring the opinions of the country’s people and the whole world,” he said.   Mosharraf came up with the remarks while addressing a public rally at Gouripur in Daudkandi upazila arranged by the local unit of the main opposition party.   Earlier, addressing a public rally in Sylhet on Saturday, opposition leader Khaleda Zia said polling-centre-based All-Party Sangaram committees will be formed across the country to resist the government move to hold a unilateral national election.   Mentioning that over 90 percent people of the country are in favour of holding the next polls under a non-party administration, Mosharraf called upon the government to reinstate the caretaker government system showing respect for public opinion.   He warned that the ruling party will have to face dire consequences if it does not concede to people’s caretaker government demand by October 24.   The former minister said they will in no way go to polls under a partisan-administration and will force the government to arrange it under a non-party government through a strong movement.   Terming the incumbent Election Commission a government puppet, the BNP leader said the commission has no ability to hold a free and fair election.   He called upon people to spontaneously participate in the opposition’s ongoing movement and form polling-centre-based All-party Sangaram Committees. – UNB
