Nasim urges all parties including Bnp to participate in city elections

Health and Family Welfare Minister and a presidium member of ruling Awami League Mohammad Nasim today called upon all political parties to take part in the ensuing city corporation polls.
“The wind of election has now been blowing in the country following announcement of the city corporation polls schedule. Election is the main ingredient of democracy. I would like to urge all the political parties including BNP to participate in the city corporation polls to retain proper democratic system,” he said.Mohammad Nasim made this appeal while speaking as the chief guest at the national physiotherapy conference held under the aegis of Swadhinata Physiotherapists Parishad at Begum Sufia Kamal auditorium of the National Museum at Shahbagh in the city.
President of the Parishad Dr Harun-ar-Rashid chaired the conference, also addressed, among others, by Awami League (AL) health affairs secretary Dr Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan Dublew and Bangladesh Homeopathy Board chairman and Dhaka City AL health affairs secretary Dr Dilip Roy.
Mohammad Nasim said, “Please, avail the scope Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has created following announcement of the city corporation polls. An election environment has been created through the announcement of local bodies’ polls by the new government. In continuation of this process the national polls will be held in the year 2019.”
Calling upon the BNP-led 20-party combine to withdraw its siege-hartal programmes, the senior AL leader said, “People have not been responding to the call of siege-hartal programmes of BNP given from clandestine spots. Development-expectant and democracy-loving people have already taken to the streets overcoming fears. There will be no benefits in throwing siege-hartal programmes as they no more accept such programmes.”
Mohammad Nasim called upon BNP to withdraw all sorts of programmes to give a scope to people to exercise their mandate in the ensuing polls.
Earlier, the minister inaugurated two vaccination camps (programmes) organised by the Health and Family Welfare Ministry at the auditorium of Dhaka Child Hospital in the city. At the camps, a number of children, in presence of the minister, were vaccinated with PCV and IPD vaccination. The programme has been launched to prevent the children from pneumonia and free the country from polio.
Speaking at the function, the minister said, “The country and the nation can’t march forward without healthy and fit population. We have achieved progress in many sectors. We could have achieve much successes has there been political stability.” – BSS
