National debate contest begins at JU Wednesday

Upholding the slogan “Jagrata Bibek, Durjay Tarunnya, Durnitee Rukhboi”, a four daylong national debate competition is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus.
JU Debate Organisation (JUDO) and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) are jointly arranging the competition.
President of JUDO, Sabbir Rahman said this yesterday at a press conference at JU Journalists’ Association (JUJA) office on the campus.
The programme is featured by inter school, inter college and inter university debate competition respectively on May 6, 7 and 8, 2015.
At least, forty schools, twenty eight colleges and fifty four universities from different part of the country are expected take part in the competition.
JU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Abul Hossain is expected to inaugurate the competition as the chief guest while Rezwanul Alam, Director, Outreach and Communication of TIB is expected to be the special guest at the session.
The JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Farzana Islam is expected to address the concluding function of the competition on May 9 at Selim Al Deen Muktamancha as the chief guest. – JU Correspondent
