National Fisheries Week-2015 begins in Jamalpur


Celebration of National Fisheries Week-2015 began in the district today (Tuesday) with elaborate programmes.With the slogan “In Ocean, River, All Water, Fish Culture Creates Gold,” Fisheries Department and District Administration jointly organized a discussion at District Shilpakala Academy auditorium here on the opening day.Speakers at the meeting said implementation of various development programmes in Fisheries sector has increased the overall fish production in the country. They said if the development programmes continue the country will be enriched with fish resources.Chaired by District Fisheries Officer, Ranjit Kumar Paul, the meeting was addressed among others by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rev), Zahurul Islam Khan, Additional Superintendent of Police, Mohammad Shariful Haque and AL leader Syed Atiqur Rahman Chhana.After the discussion, the Fisheries Department handed over crests and certificates to three successful fish cultivators—Olilur Rahman of Islampur upazila, Salah Uddin of Dewanganj upazila and Md Abu Taher of Madarganj upazila of the district.Earlier, the Fisheries Department brought out a rally from Tamaltala area in the town marking the National Fisheries Week. -BSS, Jamalpur
