National security in danger under current regime: Khaleda

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday said the national security is now at stake as a ‘neo autocrat’ has been in power ‘without people’s mandate’.In a message, Khaleda, now in London, said, “There’s no democracy and human rights in the country as the regime which snatched people’s voting rights continues its misrule by force.”

She further said, “Not only the people’s rights and democracy have been put at stake, but also our national security in danger under the rule of the current regime which is running the country without people’s mandate.”

The message was issued paying rich tributes to the memory of great national leader Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani on the occasion of his 39th death anniversary.

Mentioning that Bangladesh is also now under the threat of foreign aggressors, Khaleda said the path showed by Bhasani will give people courage and fortitude to fight against the evil power and misrule.

She said Bhashani was the first dreamer of the country’s liberation and torchbearer during all the national crises during his time.

The BNP chief said he becomes the source of inspiration when democracy, the country, its sovereignty and people’s basic and human rights face threats.

The 39th death anniversary of Bhasani will be observed on Tuesday with due respect.

Different social organisations and political parties have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day in a befitting manner.
