Naval ships leave for India, Sri Lanka on training tour

Five hundred eleven (511) members of Bangladesh Navy (BN) with two Naval ships left Chittagong for Sri Lanka and India on a 22-day training tour.’BNS Sumudro Joy’ and ‘BNS Samudro Ovizan’ left the Chittagong Naval Jetty at around 12PM today, BN sources said.

Rear Admiral M Akther Habib, Commander of Chittagong Naval Area, formally bade farewell to the ships amid a gorgeous ceremony as per ritual of the BN.The delegates of the ships include 33 BN officers, 28 trainees, 97 cadets, 344 mariners and nine officers from different ministries.The ships will stay at Port Blair of India from 21-25 September and at Colombo Port of Sri Lanka from September 29 to October 4, BN sources said adding that the ships are scheduled to return Bangladesh on October 9.The training tour is expected to boost up the image of Bangladesh before the world and further strengthen relationships of Bangladesh with India and Sri Lanka.
