Former minister Barrister Nazmul Huda yesterday announced a 71-member central of committee of his newly floated political party—Trinomool BNP (Grass-root BNP) headed by him.The Trinomool BNP chairman made the announcement of formation of the full committee of the party at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club auditorium in presence of party leaders and supporters.
Former minister Prof Jahanara Begum has been made as co-chairman of the party while Arif Moeenuddin as senior vice chairman and former Jahangirnagar University teacher Prof SZM Salehuddin as secretary general.
Jahanara Begum and Arif Moeenuddin however did not attend the press conference.
Among the important leaders who had been accommodated in the posts of the new party include vice chairmen—Ismot Jerin Khan, Anjuman Salahuddin, Hasan Fazlul Haque, Firozuddin, Rashed Maksud Khan, Ruma Ali and LK Chowdhury, treasurer Shamim Ahmed, joint secretaries general Akkas Ali Khan, Maulana Abed Ali, Rezaul Karim, organising secretaries Maj (Retd) Abdur Razzak, Din Islam and Daniel Rashid office secretary Ruksana Amin Surma and publicity secretary Tarek Hossain.
It will be fourth organisaiton Nazmul Huda after his expulsion from the BNP.
Huda had also formed at least three organizations—Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF), Bangladesh National Alliance (BNA) and Bangladesh Manobadhiker Party (BMP).
He was a communication minister during the four-party alliance government and vice chairman of the BNP. Later in 2011 he was expelled for his stance against the party policy.
Huda hoped that a free and fair election would be held under the incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in future.
Terming the prime minister as the daughter of democracy and father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he said a fair election is possible under her leadership.
The former BNP leader lauded the leadership of the Prime Minister saying that she has been implanting the dreams of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman one after another.
“The government is making great contribution for development of the country which is visible. We are witnessing that the country is going forward. Flyover and mega projects like Padma Bridge are being implemented,” he said.
Huda called upon the government to hold dialogue in a bid to holding a fair election.
He also expressed his willingness to suggest the government over some important national issues.
After the announcement, leaders and activists of Social Democratic Party (SDP) led by its chairman Jahangir Majumder joined the Trinomool BNP by abolishing his organisation.
On November 20 last year, Nazmul Huda floated the party at local hotel in the city and announced to form the full committee within six months.
