Nazrul’s contribution recalled in Chuadanga


A 10-day-long programme in observance of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s 116th birth anniversary was chalked out at Karpashdanga village under Damurhuda upazila of the district. The programme began from May 16.The programme jointly organised by Chuadanga district administration, upazila administration and Nazrul smirity sangsad in Karpashdanga.The 10-day programmes include the opening ceremony, presentation of Nazrul songs, recitation session of Nazrul’s poems, seminar, discussion meeting, staging of drama, competition on Nazrul’s songs and recitation from Nazrul’s poems. All the performances and functions are holding at Karpashdanga boys high school premises.On the seventh day of the programme, a seminar was held today. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Damurhuda Upazila Faridur Rahman presided over the seminar.Principal Hamidul Islam, Prof Abdul Gofur, lecturer Mizanur Rahman Mandol and Afazuddin Ahmed spoke on the occasion.The speakers recalled the contribution of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in the development of Bengali literature.The speakers called upon all to follow the works of national poet for the development of Bengali culture and literature.It may be mentioned here that the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam came to Karpashdanga village in the year 1926 and 1927 along with his family members and stayed for two months at the residences of one Babu Boiddonath Biswas, Mohim Sarkar and Horshoprio Biswas. -BSS, Chuadanga
