Dhaka – The Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Shahidul Haque has categorically said there is no threat of militant attack in Bangladesh.“The information relating to militant attack in Bangladesh is baseless,” he told newsmen after a law order committee meeting at Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) in the northen administrative division city Wednesday evening.
“We have contacted with Australian High Commission in Bangladesh to this end. The high commission office said making alert to its citizens is their routine work. They have no information about any militant attack,” he said.
Relating to the missing of a student of North South University in Dhaka, the IGP said the matter is being investigated with importance.
Shahidul Haque said that the number of absenting students in college and university has been reduced to a great extent. All conscious people should remain vigilant against militancy and terrorism, he added.
He said police is committed to bring all the godfathers of drugs to book. “Punitive measures to be taken against the police personnel who would fail to take stern action against the drug traffickers,” he warned.
