No untoward incident took place on Eid day, says Home Minister

Dhaka: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Thursday said no untoward incident took place in the country on the Eid day due to strong vigilance of law enforcement agencies.
“Law enforcers have performed their duty with the experience of the last Eid-ul-Fitr, and no unpleasant incident took place on the day of Eid-ul-Azha in the country,” he told reporters at the Secretariat. UNB News Agency Reported.
All offices, including government, semi-government and private ones, reopened on Thursday after the vacation on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The Home Minister also noted that fear of militancy has been lifted from the people’s mind.
“It is a success of the law enforcement agencies that we have been able to eliminate fear of militancy from the peoples’ minds,” he said.
Earlier on July7, on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a bomb attack coupled with an exchange of gunfire after militant attacked a temporary police check post near Sholakia Eidgah in Sadar upazila of Kishoreganj.
About Tongi fire incident, the Home Minister said those people, whose negligence caused the sad incident, will not be spared.
On September 10, a devastating fire broke out inside ‘Tampaco Foils Limited’ at Tongi due to reported boiler explosions, leaving at least 34 people dead.
