A court here on Sunday placed four people, including acting Pro-Vice Chancellor of North South University Gias Uddin Ahsan, arrested for not keeping tenant information and renting out their houses to Gulshan attackers, on an eight-day remand each.Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Tasruzzaman passed the order when DB inspector Humayun Kabir produced them before the court seeking a 10-day remand prayer.The three others who were put on remand are Alam Chowdury, nephew of Gias Uddin Ahsan, and Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, manager of the building and Nurul Islam, a teacher of a school in Mirpur area. Police on Sunday arrested Nurul Islam, a house owner in the city’s Shewarapara area for renting out his flat to Gulshan attackers and not keeping their information. Dhaka, UNB News Agency Reported.
They also seized a hand grenade, black dresses used by the terrorists and some other materials from the house.Besides, police on Saturday arrested three people, including acting Pro-Vice Chancellor of North South University Gias Uddin Ahsan, Alam Chowdury, and Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, from different parts of the capital for not keeping information of their tenants who had involvement in the Gulshan terrorist attack. Police also seized cartons containing sand and some clothes of the militants. All of them were shown arrested under section 54.
On July 1, gunmen stormed the cafe and took guests and employees hostage. Twenty bodies, including nine of Italians and seven Japanese nationals, were recovered from the crime spot the following day. The crisis ended following an army-led joint forces’ operation – ‘Operation Thunderbolt’. Two policemen and six militants, of whom one later appeared to be a staff of the Bakery who may not be involved in the attack, were also killed.
