A Dhaka Court on Tuesday refused bail to Oishee Rahman in the murder case of her parents- Special Branch Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and
Judge Md Jahurul Haque of Dhaka”s Metropolitan Sessions’ Judges Court passed the order after hearing.
Oishee, an “O” level student is now in Kashimpur Jail for women of Gazipur.
Police recovered the decomposed bodies of Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman from their Chamelibagh residence in the capital on Aug
16. The bodies bore multiple stab injuries, which forensic experts believed, were the work of amateur.
Oishee surrendered to the city’s Paltan Police Station, 22 hours after her parents were recovered with their domestic help.
Oishee made confessional statement to a court on August 24, but later appealed to retract the statement, claiming she made the confession
under duress. The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) of Dhaka also rejected her bail petition.
Child Sumi, 11, also made confessional statement admitting her involvement as an abettor during the murder. She is now at the
National Juvenile Development Centre of Gazipur. She was also refused bail in the case.
In the bail petition, the defense lawyers questioned the credibility of a confession made by an addict like Oishee.
However, the prosecution lawyers on Tuesday said Oishee had never been an addict. The defense lawyers called the prosecution’s statement
Police held a man from the court while Oishee’s bail petition was being heard at the courtroom as per the court’s directive. The man
tried to take a photograph of Oishee. He identified himself as Ahsan Ullah Shimul, a writer specially intested in psychology.
The couple lived at their residence with their daughter Oishee, son Ohidur Rahman, 6, and domestic help Khadiza Akhter Sumi.
Meanwhile, Oishee’s two friends- Mizanur Rahman Rony and Asaduzzaman Jony were arrested in the case and they are now in jail custody. –
