One suspected dealer killed in Tajgaon: Drug death toll 59

Dhaka, May 25 – Members of security Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) killed a drug dealer in a gun battle wee hours of Friday at Tejgaon in Dhaka after nearly 59 deaths in similar operations in countrywide in a week. The deceased was identified as Kamrul Islam 35. Bachchu Mia, sub-inspector at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp, said that the doctors declared the man dead when the RAB brought his body in the wee hours of Friday.
Mizanur Rahman, Sub-Inspector of Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station told journalists that RAB team raided the BG Press school ground alley following a tip-off that drug dealers were there.
RAB retaliated when the suspects began firing their guns and a man was found with bullet wounds at the scene after the ‘gunfight’, the police official said
Law enforcement officials said doctors at DMCH declared the suspect, identified as ‘top drug dealer Kamrul, dead.
Rab spokesman Mufti Mahmud Khan said in an SMS that two personnel of RAB-2 were injured in the ‘gun battle’. He said a ‘huge’ amount of yaba pills, arms and ammunition were found in the drive. RAB found 3000 yaba pills, arms and ammunition from the spot.
Khan also added that Kamrul was accused in more than 15 cases under narcotics control law and convicted in some of those He controlled the drug business in Tejgaon railway slum and Sattala slum at Mohakhali, according to RAB Media Wing Director Khan.
