Dhaka – The ‘Orion 34th Bangladesh Amateur (Golf) Championship’ 2019, under the supervision of Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF), was inaugurated Monday afternoon at Kurmitola Golf Club.
This is the third time that Orion Group is sponsoring the prestigious tournament since amateur golf was first introduced by Kurmitola Golf Club in 1982 in the country.
BGF Senior Vice-President Major General Md Enayet Ullah inaugurated the international tournament. BGF Secretary General Brigadier General Md Sayeed Siddiki was also present on the occasion.
The prize giving ceremony will be held on January 18 at Kurmitola Golf Club Banquet Hall at 7:30pm. Chief of General Staff of Bangladesh Army Lieutenant General Md Shafiqur Rahman will be present as the chief guest. He will distribute prizes among the winners.
Some 216 golfers, including 216 men and 16 women, are expected to compete in the meet.Apart from local amateur golfers, top amateurs from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan and hosts Bangladesh will participate in the tournament. Besides, 21 expatriates, including three women, will take parts in the challenging 18-hole golf course.UNB
