Padma Bridge graft case filed ‘under WB pressure’, says outgoing ACC cheif

The outgoing chairman of Anti-Corruption Comission (ACC), M Badiuzzaman, on Sunday said the organisation filed the Padma Bridge corruption case in 2012 without any recorded facts and documents in face of World Bank pressure.The ACC chairman said, “The statement we (ACC) filed in Padma Bridge graft case was not that much factual for filing a case. But it should not be.”The ACC boss made the remark at his farewell at the ACC office in Dhaka.”We filed the case so that Bangladesh can avail the [World Bank] fund,” he added.“Later an investigation revealed that the accusation was a false one,” he added.ACC commissioner Nasir Uddin Ahmed presided over the programme.
