Speakers at a discussion have underscored the need for ensuring skill development training for the people with special needs for
transforming them into competent workforce.They mentioned that there should be adequate measures of bringing all the physically challenged people under various vocational training subject to their capability so that they could be made themselves income-generators.They were addressing a view-sharing meeting styled “Equal Participation of Challenged People to Skill Development Training” at Safawang Community Centre in Rajshahi city today.District Badhan Protibandhi Sangstha (DBPS) and Protibandhi Nari Bikash Sangstha (PNBS) jointly organized the meeting in association with ADD International and Manusher Jonno Foundation.Mahbub Jaman Bhulu, Administrator of Rajshahi Jila Parishad, and Abdul Mannan, Deputy Director of Department of Social Service, addressed the meeting as chief and special guests respectively with Advocate Saifur Rahman Khan Rana, President of Disabled Legal Aid Committee, in the chair.District Women Affairs Officer Shahnaj Begum, Upazila Youth Development Officer Neyamat Fazlur Rashid and former President of DBPS Sohel Rana also spoke.The discussants said ensuring disabled-friendly training facilities and working atmosphere has become an urgent need for making the disabled people income-oriented subject to their physical and mental capacity.They also said the physically disadvantaged people should be given scopes of applying their latent talents according to their choice like the able ones.To this end, they advocated for relaxation of their age and educational qualification for admission to the existing income generation based various technical and vocational training.”The disadvantaged community is an integral part of our society and we must give them an opportunity for enjoying all basic rights like other privileged sections in the country,” said the chief guest. -BSS
