Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday urged the Alem-Ulema of the country not to take laws in their own hands provoked by false propaganda on social media.

“If anyone says anything against our Prophet his/her trial will be done as per laws of the land, we won’t take laws in our own hands…the law will take its own course. We’ll give them [propagators]appropriate lessons so that they cannot spread such propaganda in the future,” she said.

The Prime Minister said this while addressing the Sukrana Mahfil (Thanksgiving rally) for recognizing Dawrae Hadith (Takmil) Certificate in Qawmi Madrasah with the status of postgraduate degrees of Islamic Studies and Arabic at historic Suhrawardy Udyan organised by Alem and Ulemas of Qawmi Madrasah under Al-Haiyatul Ulia Lil-Jamiatil Qawmia.

To prevent false propaganda in social media, she said, the government has enacted the cybercrime law. When a person believes in Islam properly must not become terrorists and militants.”

The Prime Minister said the government does not want the prevailing peaceful situation of the country to fade away. “If peace prevails in the country, it’ll achieve prosperity. If the country develops, everyone will be benefitted,” she said.
