A fire that broke at Bangladesh Police Academy at Sarda in Charghat upazila burned down valuables, including some academic certificates of cadets, on Saturday morning.
Sahabuddin Ahmed, additional superintendent of Bangladesh Police Academy, said the fire broke out around 5:45 am on the ground floor of a six-storey cadet barrack.
On information, a team of fire service rushed in and doused the fire.
The fire gutted academic certificates of 64 cadets of the 35th batch, cash and other valuables.
A five-member probe committee, led by additional superintendent of Police Sharif Ahmed, was formed to investigate the incident and it was asked to submit its report within seven working days.
Police said the fire might have originated from an electric short circuit.
