Police ‘still not sure’ about militant link to Mitu murder

Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque on Sunday said police are not yet sure whether there was any militant link to the gruesome murder of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of Police Super Babul Akhter. The police chief made the remarks while addressing a rally at Dampara Police Lines in the city as the chief guest.“Militants won’t get any scope to weaken the morale of the police force.

They won’t be able to do that,” he asserted.Urging people to put up a strong resistance against militants, AKM Shahidul Hoque said militants will be eliminated from the country with the help of people. “It’s not possible to contain militants by police alone,” he added.“There might be local and foreign conspiracies in the recent incidents of secret killing,” said the IGP.Presided over by former Chittagong City Corporation Mayor ABM Mohiuddin, also Chittagong city unit Awami League president, the rally was attended, among others, by Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Iqbal Bahar and some political leaders.
