Police suspects JMB involvement in Tangail Hindu tailor killing

Dhaka – Police suspects JMB militants were involved in minority tailor Nikhil Joarder killing in Tangail, about 100 kilometres north of here. Clue of the murder is yet to be revealed though five days have passed and the list of arrestees is going to be longer. At least 11 people including JMB militants, Jamaat-Shibir, BNP activist, ex-husband of Nikhil’s niece have been arrested.
Three arrestees have been put under six-day remand. Yet no important clue is has been revealed. The motive of killing is suspicious but the attackers resemble the recent targeted killings of bloggers, writers, people of different faiths and ideologies university teachers. The machete-wielding attackers are targeting the head and throat to ensure immediate death. Police suspects JMB militants in Nikhil’s killing.Police started investigation taking consideration on family feud, land grabbing by the influential and acts by the militants for making derogatory remarks on religion and the prophet. Suspicion on the JMB militants is more than other sides, the investigating officers said. Accordingly police is making a list of the JMB militants on bail and in jail. Police arrested JMB activists Meer Sadik alias Sumon, Meer Abdul Malek alias Dipon, Amanullah Liton from Buruha village of Tangail sadar Upazila, Masud alias Chsnchal and Majnu Rahman from Delduwar Upazila on Monday night. The five were the convicted in country wide series bomb blast in 2005. JMB member Toriqul brother of Masud was arrested in Khijir Khan murder in Dhaka.
Police also arrested Rafiqul Islam Badsha secretary of Gopalpur poura Jamaat-e-Islami, BNP activist Jhantu Mia, Madrasha super Moulana Aminul Islam who lodged case against Nikhil in 2012 on making derogatory remarks on religion and Prophet,  Jamaat leader Abu Bakor, Shibir activists Idris Munshi and Razzaque Promanik, ex-husband of Nikhil’s niece Goutam Rudra.
Nikhil was haunted by death threat when he witnessed on his shutter ascribed in blue ink, ’Adalot tomake mukti dileoy amra mukti debo na’.  Nikhil did not inform it to police for fear. He shared it with family members and close neighbours. Since then he restricted his movement in his house and adjacent trading centre, Banya Rani daughter of Nikhil said.
Nikhil was hacked to death in front of his shop at Dubail 46 kms off from Tangail under Gopalpur Upazila by motorcycle-borne assailants on Saturday noon. The killers left a bag carrying four cocktails and two machets. The cocktails have been handed over to Army for defuse. The killers also left a blood stained shirt a few kms distance from the spot. Nikhil’s wife Aroti Joardar lodged a murder case against unidentified assailants on Saturday night, while police filed another case under Arms and Explosive Substances Act. Kobita and Bonnoya seek Prime minister’s interference for justice. Aroti Joarder has become speechless. Daughter Kabita cannot be hopeful of judgment.
