Police to submit probe report for making derogatory remarks

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Wednesday asked police to submit the probe report by February 23, 2016 in the case filed against BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tareque Rahman for making derogatory remarks about Bangabandha Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.Magistrate Amit Kumar Dey of the CMM Court passed the order as the Paltan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) did not submit any report following the earlier scheduled date of the court.

On March 23, this year, Bangladesh Muktijodda Projonmo President Fazlul Karim Arif Patwari filed the case with Dhaka CMM Court against Tareque Rahman and BNP foreign affairs envoy Jahid F Sarder Saadi for demeaning Bangabandhu, calling him a friend of Pakistan.

The case statement further says that while addressing a meeting in London on December 15, last year, Tareque allegedly called Bangabandhu a “Razakar”, a term which means collaboration with Pakistan military during the War of Liberation of 1971.
