Policeman faces arrest for dowry torture

A Dhaka court has ordered arrest of a police Inspector for allegedly torturing his wife for dowry.
Judge Sadikul Islam Talukder of First Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 passed the order on Sunday.

The tribunal’s clerk Fazlur Rahman told bdnews24.com that a petition filed by the wife of Saiful Hoque Bhuiyan, Inspector (investigation)
at Ramna Police Station, drew the order.
Mariam Akter filed the plea on July 31 alleging that he had tortured her for dowry on July 17. She was unsatisfied with the findings of a judicial probe conducted by the court’s order regarding her allegation.

Bangladesh Mahila Parishad fought for the wife of the policeman in the court.

When contacted for his comment, Saiful said, “She is trying to humiliate me by filing false case as I have divorced her.” – bdnews24.com
