Elections to another 21 upazila parishads are likely to be held late next month, election commission sources said Tuesday.   The EC may announce the schedule for the sixth phase of the polls on Wednesday,the sources said speaking on condition of anonymity.   The schedule
was discussed at an EC meeting presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad on Tuesday, said the sources.   The CEC returned home on Monday after 42 days of vacation in the United States.   The election in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila, which was stayed by the High Court on March 30, will be held on Wednesday.   Six EC officials will observe the Thakurgaon polls in 169 polling stations of the upazila.   In the previous five phases staggered from Feb. 19 to March 31 elections were held in 459 upazilas out of the country’s 487 upazilas   In a separate announcement the EC said the election to Boalkhali municipality will be held on May 21.   According the polls schedule, the deadline for submission of nomination paper is April 24, while scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done April 27. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is May 5. -UNB
