Dhaka – An all-round performance by national cricketer Soumya Sarkar enabled Agrani Bank Cricket Cub to get off to a flying start in the Walton Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League upsetting defending champions Gazi Group Cricketers by eight wickets at BKSP ground-3 in Savar on Monday.Sent in to bat first, Gazi Group Cricketers were all out for 176 runs in 46.1 overs with opener Mahedi Hasan making 41, Shafiul Hayet 33, Rajat Bhatia 31 and Abu Hider 15 runs.Shahbaz Chouhan grabbed three wickets for 31 runs while Soumya Sarkar, Abdur Razzak and Al Amin Hossain took two wickets each conceding 27 runs each.In reply, the bankers’ team easily reached their target scoring 178 runs for the loss of two wickets in 39.3 overs, featuring 150 runs in the 3rd wicket stand by Soumya Sarkar and Rafatullah Mohammad despite losing two wickets for 28 runs in 8.4 overs.National opener Soumya Sarkar, who was dropped from national team in the ongoing home series against Sri Lanka, hammered unconquered 89 runs off 122 balls, featuring seven fours and two sixes in addition to two wickets to be adjudged the man of the match.Two down Rafatullah Mohammad contributed not out 55 runs off 88 deliveries with four fours and two sixes while Azmir Ahmed made 15 runs off 17 balls, including two fours and a six, and Shahriar Nafees made four runs for the bankers’ team.Mahedi Hasan claimed both the wickets conceding 27 runs.UNB news agecy
