Priyanka Chopra wins Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Actress Priyanka Chopra bags another prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award. She won the award in the “Best Actress of the Year” category for her role of “Kashibai” in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Bajirao Mastani.

Expressing excitement over the announcement, the 33-year-old star took to her Twitter and wrote, “So grateful.. The #DadasahebPhalkeAward is such an honour. #BajiraoMastani #blessed.”

Earlier she received an award from the Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation for “Most Memorable Performance” in 2011 for her role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Saath Khoon Maaf. The foundation will honour the Quantico star on the 147th Dadasaheb Phalke Jayanti to be held in Mumbai on April 24.

Priyanka made her debut in Bollywood with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy in 2003. The film also starred Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. In the same year, she starred in Andaaz, alongside Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta. Former Miss World, Priyanka worked in popular films like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Aitraaz, Don, Fashion, Dostana, Agneepath, Barfi!, and Mary Kom.

In 2015, she made her television debut with American thriller series Quantico where she plays the lead role of Alex Parrish. Priyanka will soon be featured in Hollywood’s Baywatch starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
