Dhaka, 01 Feb – The Newly appointed Inspector General of Police Mohammad Javed Patwari on Thursday said he will give his best and highest when it will come to provide the security and safety to the people before and during the upcoming parliamentary election.
After taking charge of the Bangladesh Police force, the new IGP wanted to send messages to all the parties through journalists for the first time in police headquarter media center.Javed Patwari, who was as Additional Inspector General of Police Special Branch (SB) for the past seven years, took charge from the IGP Shahidul Haque on Wednesday.
Javed Patwari said, “The election will be handled by election commission and police will ensure the security professionally of public with law.”
A day before the police chief was performing his duty, BNP activists attacked to police at the High Court of Dhaka. The political aggravation is increasing gradually centering the corruption case of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on February 8.
Beside, many people fear about that the unrest may increase further due to the month of election at the end of this year.
Responding to the queries of the journalists, IGP said, “The election commission is conducting the election. We will continue to do our work to ensure the safety of people’s lives. ”
“If police get the corporation of everyone then terrorism and militancy will be zero tolerance,” Said IGP.
Earlier morning, new IGP went to Dhanmondi 32 and paid tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Javed Patwari mentioned that if we get all along, we will eliminate drugs problem like how we eliminated militancy. Police policy will be ‘zero tolerance’ to eliminate drugs. As long as the demand of drugs is available, it will be available. To eliminate drag first we need to control.
“A lot of things are involved. Drugs can be eradicated if we will work together,” also said IGP.
He also said that he would take steps to increase the police capacity to curb cybercrime and increase the quality of service in the police station. – Staff Reporter
