Human Rights Commission Chairman Mizanur Rahman has called on the major political parties to stop blame game and take effective measures against murder and abduction.
He was speaking at an event in Barguna on Saturday. The ruling Awami League and BNP have blamed each other for the recent abduction and murder of seven people in Narayanganj.
“It will not solve anything if this becomes an issue of political games. Blame game is not a solution,” Mizanur said.“People are being abducted, people are disappearing, but we don’t see enough measures to ensure their safety. Stop all this. Take effective measures.”
Mizanur said the government would have to “first identify the criminals within its own ranks”.
He advised the prime minister to “keep the sycophants at bay”.
“Don’t let sycophants isolate you from reality. It is your duty to ensure public safety,” he said.
He also criticised BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s ‘organisational red alert’ and cautioning the party members to stay alert.
“I can’t believe that a national political party would think only of its members, instead of all the people,” he said.-bdnews24.com
Blaming BNP for the ongoing incidents of abduction and secret killing, Food Minister Quamrul Islam on Saturday this is the new model of movement of Khaleda Zia’s party.
Killing and abduction are the characteristics of their (BNP) new model of movement. They’ve launched a new chapter of conspiracy with this. They always want to proceed with new charisma, but fail always,” he said.
The Food Minister said while addressing a discussion titled ‘Bangabandhu and Bangladesh’ organised by Bangamata Sheikh Fajilatunnesa Mujib Parishad at the Liberation War Museum in the city.
Quamrul came up with the blame against BNP at a time when the country, particularly the port city of Narayanganj, is reeling under abduction panic.
Over the last week, eight people abducted from Naryanganj. Later the bodies of eight people were found in the Shitalakkhya and Dhaleswari Rivers. Another abductee, businessman Saiful Islam, was released at Savar in the early hours of Saturday, 26 hours after his abduction from Shiddhirganj in Narayanganj.
Quamrul said BNP is hatching conspiracies to destabilise the country through staging the incidents of forced disappearance and killing to destabilise the country.
“I do believe this conspiracy will fail as the government is alert,” he added.
“The government and law enforcing agencies are trying their best to unearth the mystery behind the abduction and killing.
The government must identify the mastermind of these incidents,” the Food Minister said.
