Mobile court charges 4 clinics and diagnostics Taka 24 lakh

Dhaka-A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Sunday fined four clinics and diagnostic centres in the capital’s Shyamoli area Tk 24 lakh on various charges of irregularities.The clinics and diagnostic centers are Islam Diagnostic Laboratory, Popular Medicine Centre, Trauma Centre and Care Medical College Hospital.
Sarwar Alam, executive magistrate of Rab, led the drive conducted between 11:00 am and 4:30 pm.
During the drive at Trauma Centre and Specialized Orthopedic Hospital Ltd, the mobile court found date-expired re-agents being used to conduct various diagnostic tests there. Besides, various irregularities, including lack of trained technicians at the hospital, were also found.
The court fined its Managing Director Dr Md Jahangir Alam, its manager Md Ali Zinnah, pharmacist Md Pappor Islam and receptionist Afroza Akhter Tk 8 lakh for the irregularities.
The mobile court also fined pharmacy in-charge of Popular Medicine Corner Md Shawkat Talukder Tk 5 lakh on charge of selling un-registered and illegally imported foreign medicines.
The mobile court also fined Care Medical College Hospital’s manager Mosharraf Hossain, lab in-charge Babul Shaha and its employee Gulan Shaha Tk 5 lakh on charge of using date-expired re-agent and other irregularities.
Besides, the mobile court fined Islam Diagnostic Laboratory owners Md Shahjan and Khandker Nurul Islam and its lab in-charge Shamsunnahar Tk six lakh on various charges of irregularities.
Assistant director of Department of Health Dr Md Shahjahan, Drug Superintendent of the Department of Drug Administration Md Razibul Habib and Rab-2 deputy director Md Mahbub Alam were also present during the drives.
