Radio jockey found dead at home in Dhaka

Police have recovered the body of a Radio Jockey, who used to work for a Dhaka-based broadcast station, from his home in the capital’s Mirpur neighbourhood.
Thirty-year-old Samiul Kabir Prottoy had left his job at the ABC Radio a month ago. His family suspects he suffered a ‘cerebral stroke’.

Prottoy used to live with his mother and brother in an apartment at Mirpur’s Shiyalbarhi. The body was recovered around 11:30am on Friday, said Rupnagar police OC Rezaul Hasan.

“The body had no injury marks, but it bled from the nose,” he told

Quoting family members, the police officer said that Prottoy’s father died the same way ten years ago.

“His mother and brother think that he suffered a stroke. The body has been sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for autopsy,” he added.

One of Prottoy’s former colleagues at ABC Radio told that he used to have two shows at the station.

“He had left the job a month ago, but used to drop in at the station often. He was here even two days ago,” the colleague said, preferring anonymity.
