Six policemen testified before a local court on Thursday in the teenage boy Rajon murder case.
Sylhet Metropolitan Session’s Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha recorded the statements of officer-in-charge of Jalalabad Police Station Akhter Hossain, its suspended OC (investigation) Alamgir Hossain, sub-inspector (SI) Ariful Islam, SI Shamim Akanji, ASI Sohel Rana and SI Mohadeb Basar of Dirai Police Station of Sunamganj district.
Adv Emadullah Shahidul Islam Shaheen, a counsel appointed by Rajon’s father, said 35 witnesses out of total 38 have so far made their deposition before the court in the murder case.
Meanwhile, Kamrul Islam, the prime accused in the teenage boy Rajon murder case, was brought back home from Saudi Arabia on Thursday afternoon.
On July 8, 13-year-old boy Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, son of Sheikh Azizur Rahman of Badeali village in Sadar upazila of Sylhet, was brutally tortured to death over a theft at Sundar Ali Market in Kumargaon area of Sylhet city.
The killers themselves took the video footage of the incident, which went viral on social networking site Facebook and video-sharing site Youtube which triggered a widespread outcry.
Ten people were arrested in connection with the gruesome murder and eight of them made ‘confession’ separately to their involvement in the incident.
Later, the investigation officer of the case submitted charge sheet accusing 13 people, including absconding Kamrul, on August 16 before the court in Sylhet.
The other accused are Muhit Alam, 32, Shamim Alam, 20, Pavel Islam, 18, Ali Haider alias Ali, 34, Moyna Mia, 45, Nur Ahmed alias Nuru Mia, 20, Dulal Ahmed, 30, Ayaz Ali, 45, Taz Uddin Badal, 28, Firoz Mia, 50, Asmat Ali, 42, and Ruhul Amin, 25.
The two fugitive accused are Kamrul Islam’s Shamim Ahmed and Pavel.
