The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Thursday deferred the date for submission of the probe report in case filed for Begum Khaleda Zia’s alleged hurting of religious sentiments of the people in 2014. Magistrate Abdullah Al Masud of the CMM Court passed the order as the Investigation Officer of the case could not submit the report on Thursday. Earlier, he failed to submit the probe report on 16 dates.
Pro-Awami League organization, Jananetri Parishad’s President AB Siddiqui filed the case on October 21, 2014, accusing Khaleda Zia of using alleged defamatory remarks, intended to create conflict among the people of different social strata and beliefs.
The case docket says that while addressing a function of the Hindu community at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh , on October 14, 2014, Khaleda Zia said, “Awami League leaders are pretending to be secular but they have no faith in any religion.” – Special Correspondent
