Return to normal life or face annihilation: Minister


Bogra: Urging militants to avail themselves of the opportunity given by the government to return to normal life, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan here on Wednesday said those will not respond to the call will be annihilated. UNB News Agency Reported.
“We’ll provide them with every opportunity as per the law to lead a normal life. Those who won’t respond to the call will be exterminated,” he said.
The minister was speaking at a programme organised by Rapid Action Battalion-12 (Rab) at Shaheed Titu auditorium marking the surrender of two militants.
Asaduzzaman also said many militants have communicated with them to return to normal life. “They’ll also turn up,” he said.
Noting that those who patronise militants have already been identified, he said they will face dire consequences if they do not come out of the path.
Citing the burial of slain militants as unclaimed bodies, the minister said this proves that even families and relatives hate militancy, seeking cooperation from all to curb militancy.
In his speech, Rab Director General Benazir Ahmed said militants will be annihilated digging country’s each inch soil if necessary. “Their wings will be clipped and liver will be pulled out.”
He, however, said their door is open for those who want to return to normal life.
Two Jama’atul Mujahiddeen Bangladesh members — Abdul Hakim, son of Abdur Rahman of Kamarabari village in Shahjahanpur upazila of the district, and Mahmudul Hasan Bijoy, son of late Sekendar Ali of Bharatkhali village in Saghata upazila in Gaibandha district — turned up promising to return to normal life.
They were also given Tk 5 lakh each for their rehabilitation. Expressing remorse for their activities, the two militants urged others to shun the path of militancy.
