A boy who committed suicide on Wednesday after failing to find his name in the list of students passing the recently held SSC exams, actually secured GPA-5 in the exam. The Barisal Intermediate and Secondary Education Board revised the results of the Hindu Dhormo and Moral Education course on Saturday afternoon.
In the initial results published last week, SSC examinee Shorbojit Ghosh Hridoy failed Hindu Dhormo and Moral Education course. That meant even though he averaged grade point 5 in all the other courses, he failed the SSC exams overall by failing his Hindu Dhormo and Moral Education course.
When the results of the SSC examination were published on Wednesday, Hridoy did not find his name among the students who passed. He became so upset he killed himself jumping off the third floor of a seven-storey building adjacent to his house at Parara road.
Professor M Ziaul Hoque, chairman of Barisal Education Board, said the results of the Hindu Dhormo and Moral Education course were botched due to a technical glitch.
Action will be taken against the persons responsible for the glitch, he added.
