Dhaka-The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has put restriction on vehicular movement around the capital’s Suhrawardy Udyan on 22-23 October ahead of the twentieth council of the ruling Bangladesh Awami League.Traffic through roads stretching from Kadam Foara in front of the High Court to Matsya Bhaban to Shahbagh and crossing to TSC to Doyel Chattar will remain under restriction on the two aforementioned days, said DMP commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia while talking to media during inspection of security measures at the council venue.
The commissioner added that no vehicle, except VIP, will be allowed to entry the venue. Vehicles will only be allowed to entry after vehicle mirror search.
the prime minister, speaker, ministers, state ministers will entry to the venue through the gate of Shikha Chironton.
They have also taken all-out security measures ahead of the council, to ensure no untoward incidents occur.
He also said a multi-tier security has been taken to ensure the safety of thousands of people who are likely to throng the Suhrawardy Udyan.
Apart from these, he added the entry of common people to the udyan will be restricted from October 21.
The DMP boss said none will be allowed to enter the AL council venue along with firearms, explosives and bags.
He said a total of seven archways, equipped with metal detectors, are being installed at the entrances of the Suhrawardy Udyan.
The DMP commissioner said beside the law enforcers, the activists of the ruling AL’s front organisations such as Juba League, Swechchhasebak League and Chhatra League will remain active to ensure the security of the city on the occasion of the council.
He said the entire area adjacent to the council venue has been brought under surveillance of the closed-circuit television cameras.
