“Robin Hood” to be recreated for modern times

Acclaimed visual effects supervisor Hasraf ‘HaZ’ Dulull has come on board to direct a futuristic take on Robin Hood in a feature being developed by Gianni Nunnari and his Hollywood Gang banner.

The script by Tony Lee, a comics author who has worked on characters ranging from Spider-Man to Doctor Who, is a reimagining of the British bow-brandishing brigand.

Sources say that Nunnari, who produced the visually stylish 300 and Immortals, took to Dulull after being impressed with his shorts, including the sci-fi thriller Sync, among others.

“HaZ brings the grounded realistic approach to the world depicting technology and people in a not too distant dystopian London,” said Nunnari, underscoring that with both Lee and Dulull being London-based, all are keen on keeping the British heart alive (no matter what time period it’s in) of this decidedly English legend.

Hollywood Gang is eyeing a 2017 production start.

The company also is in development on Bare Knuckle, with Mikael Hafstrom attached to direct; the post-apocalyptic thriller The Domestics for MGM; and TV series Start Up for Crackle.

Dulull is currently in postproduction on his debut feature film, the space-exploration thriller The Void, which is an adaptation of his short film Project Kronos and with which he hopes to break new ground for visual effects. Dulull is repped by Ground Control.
