Sachin Tendulkar announced his retirement from ODI cricket on Sunday morning.

The announcement comes as the selectors meet to select the team to play against Pakistan.

Sachin played 463 ODI matches, scored 18,426 runs along with 49 centuries and 96 half centuries.

Sachin said that he felt blessed to be part of the 2011 World Cup winning team. He said he was stepping aside to help the team to build up for the 2015 World Cup.

The master-blaster also thanked all his well-wishers for their support.

Ramesh Tendulkar is an Indian cricketer widely acknowledged as the greatest living batsman and second only to Don Bradman in the all time greatest list in Test.

In ODIs, however, statistics confirm that Sachin is by far the most successful one-day batsman in history.

In 2002, just 12 years into his career, Wisden ranked him the second greatest Test batsman of all time, behind Bradman, and the second greatest one-day-international (ODI) batsman of all time, behind Viv Richards.
