Salahuddin at ICU of Meghalaya hospital


Treatment of ailing BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed began yesterday at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), said party assistant office secretary Abdul Latif Jony.
Talking to journalists he said if may take another three days to get all the reports of his test conducted on Thursday and Friday.
“Until then Salahuddin will have to stay in the hospital where he was shifted to from Civil Hospital on Wednesday for better treatment on his kidney, heart, prostate diseases and skin rashes,” he said.
The BNP leader said until his treatment is completed police cannot produce him before the court without doctors’ clearance under the Indian law.He said Salahuddin was provided with the best available treatment by the Indian government at one of the finest hospitals in the north-eastern India.
Jony said the local administration is also providing their assistance in for treatment of Salahuddin.
According to him Salahuddin was in Intensive Carte Unit of the hospital under police custody and his wife Hasina Ahmed is allowed to visit him twice a day.
Earlier, doctors detected stones in his kidneys and decided to shift him to the specialised hospital on Wednesday.
A medical board was formed consisting of cardiologists and nephrologists.
Meanwhile, according to a source in Shillong said Salahuddin had a telephonic conversation with BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Thursday night. It was a very short conversation which consisted of of exchanging good wishes cedntring his condition and seeking prayer from her fro his early recovery.
Salahuddin surfaced in Meghalaya’s capital Shillong on May 11 after 63 days of his disappearance from a Uttara residence. – Staff Reporter
