Salauddin Quader Chy’s son granted bail


A Dhaka court on Sunday granted bail to detained Hummam Quader Chowdhury, son of war crime convict and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury (SQC), in a case filed for an attempt to murder seven years ago.
Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Md Kaisarul Islam granted
the bail after the hearing on the bail plea of Hummam Quader  Chowdhury. Police arrested Hummam from Dhanmondi in the capital at about 10.30 am on Saturday.Earlier, Magistrate Meher Nigar Suchona of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka sent Hummam, the youngest son of SQ Chowdhury to the jail on Saturday afternoon. He looks after their family business and he is also, one of the accused in the case filed in connection with the leakage of the draft verdict of SQC’s trial.
Dhanmondi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Noor-a-Azam said a police
team arrested Humman from his residence as a warrant for his arrest was pending in a criminal case filed against him. The case was filed with Gulshan Police Station on July 25, 2008.
On August 3, last, Alli Masud Sheikh, of the court of Fourth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Dhaka issued warrant against Hummam while the case filed nearly seven years ago by one Shamsul Huda, whose other details could not be known so far. Hummam is the only accused as mentioned in the charge sheet of the case, said court sources.- Special Correspondent
