SC Bar Assoc announces hunger strike against abduction

Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) yesterday announced a weeklong programme including hunger strike on May 8 protesting the recent abduction and killing including Chandan Sarkar.
Vice chairman of Bangladesh Bar Council and president of SCBA Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain announced the programme at a press conference at Bar Council auditorium.
As part of the programme, members of all bar associations across the country would wear black badge from May 2-8.Besides, SCBA will hold a protest rally at the National Press Club at 3:00pm today (Saturday).
The other programmes include hoisting of black flag and bringing mourning procession on May 4, demonstration of May 5, human chain on May 6, protest rally on May 7 and token hunger strike on May 8.
Announcing the programme, Mahbub Hossain said the government would have to free the countrymen from the panic of abduction and killing; otherwise they have to bear the severe consequence for it.
He advised the government to give an immediately direction not to arrest someone by any law enforcers wearing plainclothes so that none could take the opportunity to abduct anyone in the name of law enforcing agency.
SCBA general secretary Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan, Advocate Sanaullah MIah, among others, were present on the occasion. – Staff Reporter
