Khaleda Zia’s counsel Barrister Sakib Mahbub told newsmen that the trial proceedings against the BNP chief in the four separate cases will remain stayed for the next two weeks following the latest order passed by the chamber judge.
Following separate bail petitions filed by Khaleda Zia, the High Court on April 13 stayed the trial proceedings in the four cases and also issued four separate rules asking the government to explain as to why the proceedings of the cases should not be scrapped.
Among the four cases, three were filed with Darussalam Police Station and the other case was filed with Jatrabari Police Station in 2015 during anti-government agitation enforced by the BNP-led alliance. – Special Correspondent
