Earlier on May 21, the court issued two separate rules asking the government to explain in three weeks as to why Mahmudur Rahman Manna, currently in jail, should not be granted bail in two cases. The two cases were filed with Gulshan Police Station on February 24 and March 5 last year on charges of provoking the army and sedition.

Earlier, a lower court scrapped Manna’s bail prayers in the two cases filed with Gulshan Police Station last year. He then moved the High Court for bail citing health issues.
